Adium 1.3.2

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Adium 1.3.2 is out. As a big fan of being terse, you can take a look at the version history for the full set of changes.

Adium 1.3: What is the air speed velocity of a flying duck?

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I’m happy to announce Adium 1.3, a major release seven months in the making. This release improves almost every aspect of Adium, ranging from performance and memory to Facebook chat support, and from user interface polish to much improved MSN support with personal messages (finally!). A brand new, gorgeous Contact Inspector brings together all a contact’s information in one place – coalescing combined contacts’ information and accessing your Apple Address Book to give you at-a-glance information, and intuitive live searching in the Standard Contact List makes it a snap to find your friends. Check out the full list of changes: 261 fixed tickets in all.

The Adium development community also saw some changes with this release, welcoming new contributors and developers as well as returning team members. If you’d like to get involved, check out our Contributing to Adium page or drop by our Adium IRC Chat to see how you can help out. We’re a fun community, and working on Adium is a great learning experience with many challenges for beginners and experienced developers alike.

We greatly appreciate the wide array of web services and support donated by NetworkRedux, and the servers and bandwidth provided by our download host CacheFly, which handle the inevitable Slashdot and Digg load spikes without the slightest trouble.

Adium 1.2.7

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Adium 1.2.7 is now available. It’s just like Adium 1.2.6 except without the major XMPP problem which snuck into that release.

Adium 1.2.6: The client version you are using is too old. NOT!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

This just in! Adium 1.2.6 available less than 24 hours after an ICQ network upgrade rendered previous versions unable to connect. Credit goes to our good friends over at Pidgin for fixing libpurple, our mutual services library, so quickly. :) Libpurple 2.4.3 also fixes several issues with the Yahoo!, Yahoo! Japan, and QQ instant messaging services.

A few other bugs are fixed in Adium 1.2.6, too. A bug which has been around since Adium 0.50 which caused “Contact Came Back” to be displayed sometimes when contacts would sign off has finally been fixed - a single ! was in the wrong place! Also, one of the most common crashes in 1.2.x has been corrected, and message windows will once again remember their position on Mac OS X 10.4. You can check out the version history for all the details.

We’re hard at work on Adium 1.3, which is going to be an awesome release. You can check out the beta or learn about contributing time, code, or money. Remember, Adium is a free, open source, volunteer effort. :)

Our site and code host NetworkRedux and our download host CacheFly rock.

Adium 1.2.5

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

Adium 1.2.5 is now available! This is a great bug fix release, correcting problems with Yahoo! Japan and ICQ connectivity, contact list tooltips when using Spaces in 10.5, and certain Jabber authentication setups, among many others. 22 fixes in all. This will likely be the last release in the Adium 1.2 series as we move toward a 1.3 beta; more on what to expect from Adium 1.3 another time. Quack on, my friends. Quack on.

Adium 1.2.4

Monday, March 31st, 2008

We released Adium 1.2.4 today. This is a minor release including improvements to several IM services (AIM direct connect, Yahoo! file transfer, Google Talk buddy icons, ICQ status notes, and MSN contact visibility), as well as crash fixes, visual improvements, and the long-requested ability to make the contact list completely transparent. The full change list is, as always, available on our support wiki.

Adium 1.2.1

Friday, January 18th, 2008

Hot on the duck feet of Adium 1.2 comes a new version just in time for the weekend!

Adium 1.2.1 fixes a number of bugs accidentally introduced in 1.2, significantly reduces Adium’s memory footprint (both by fixing a couple leaks and by optimizing memory usage), improves the new Applescript dictionary, and corrects a gaggle of other issues. Group chats will now automatically reconnect when your instant messaging account reconnects, too!

We’ve expanded the horizons for use: Adium 1.2.1 is the most accessible version yet, with major improvements to support for VoiceOver and other assistive devices, and this release also brings a new translation into Slovenian.

See the version history for all 44 noteworthy changes.

Please don’t forget to contribute however you can; we’re always looking for patch writers and new developers, in particular. Also, please take a look at our site host NetworkRedux and our download host CacheFly if you’re in need of network services.

Enjoy =)

Adium 1.1.4

Monday, November 5th, 2007

We’re proud to announce Adium 1.1.4, a bugfix release in the Adium 1.1 series. We’ve fixed almost all Mac OS X 10.5-related issues in Adium 1.1.3, most notably contact list drag & drop, the image picker, and interactions with Spaces. This version also fixes a number of issues for all users of Adium 1.x: log indexing and searching has been improved, passwords are no longer improperly removed from the Keychain, several crashes have been addressed, and more. See the version history for the full list. Chat away, my wayward sons (and daughters)!

Join us or help us! Please see Contributing to Adium for how you can submit patches and code, hunt down bugs, and donate to support further development! Thanks as always for the continued support of our excellent site and code host NetworkRedux and our download host CacheFly!
